JAWSFEST: The Tribute August 9-12, 2012

JAWSFEST: THE TRIBUTE will be a three-day fan-centric event exploring the experiences, filming, and memories from the making of JAWS©. The event will be held on Martha's Vineyard Island, aka "Amity Island," from August 9-12, 2012.

We are inviting fans, families, cast, and crew to join us on Amity Island to share their personal stories, memorabilia, and experiences. This event will explore how the making of JAWS has impacted the lives of those who came to Amity in 1974 and how the blockbuster film they created continues to impact lives today. Our tribute will concentrate on the men and women of JAWS who have passed, with special focus on Peter Benchley, Roy Scheider, and Robert Shaw.

Sharks, Arts, & Conservation - Included in the event is a substantial shark conservation component. Sharks, Arts, & Conservation is an “event within an event” that includes the opportunity to meet with globally recognized shark experts such as Dr. Greg Skomal and members of Discovery Channel Shark Week. Leading conservation organizations, including Shark Savers, will join with Wendy Benchley, divers and conservationists to teach us about sharks in our oceans today. Artists with a love and appreciation for the beauty and importance of sharks will display their work and share stories of inspiration. Sharks, Arts & Conservation will include exhibits, educational videos, science demonstrations, kids activities, and much more. 
 
'Summer for the Sharks' - 2012 is officially the ‘Summer for the Sharks’ on Martha's Vineyard. Our season-long initiative will raise funds and awareness to help with shark conservation. See details on how you can get involved.
