Event Plans
Below is the list of activities planned as part of JAWSFEST: THE TRIBUTE. Event planning is still under way, so new activities may be added and some listed activities may be modified.
Living Jaws A series of lively and engaging discussions with event VIPs on the making of JAWS, including how the film impacted their lives and families in the 1970s and beyond.
Behind the Screams A museum quality display of private collections of JAWS photographs and memorabilia from the filming. Display inculdes never-before shown items as well as a life-size replica of Quint, Hooper and Brody on the bow of the Orca.
Shark in the Park In collaboration with the MV Boys & Girls Club. Slide through the 3-story great-white shark, meet with shark experts and event VIP's, fly shark kites, and participate in an afternoon of family friendly shark fun.
In the Scene Live re-enactments from our favorite JAWS scenes—in some very unexpected locations.
Amity Adventure: JAWSFEST Trivia Hunt Explore Amity, test your knowledge of the film, and collect limited-edition items from our Trivia Hunt. Return your completed kits by the end of the day for great prizes.
JAWS Tribute and JAWS on the Big Screen Our grand-finale on beautiful Ocean Park, Oak Bluffs, with very special intros and our full roster of VIPs present.
Shark After Dark Late-night gatherings are planned for Thursday night at Blue Canoe Waterfront Grill in Vineyard Haven, and Friday night at Flatbread Pizza in Edgartown. Join with of fans and event VIPs for these fun evenings to celebrate and discuss all things JAWS.
Sharks, Arts & Conservation One-third of all shark species are threatened with extinction, and some local populations have declined by a frightening 90%. These amazing creatures are in tremendous peril. JAWSFEST: The Tribute is committed to bringing shark conservation awareness and education to JAWS fans and Amity visitors this summer. Learn about sharks, celebrate their beauty, and join with Wendy Benchley, Shark Savers, members of Discovery Channel Shark Week, and Dr. Greg Skomal in shark conservation efforts.
